Photographs of Animals in France and Spain
58A Canon Rebel and a Full Hard Drive
I thought it was about time that I uploaded a photo hub to Hubpages, as it is Hubpages that paid for my much cherished Canon Rebel. It cost about 6 months of Amazon income, but it was totally worth it, and I have had so much fun with it. I have worked out probably about 10% of it so far, so there is still plenty of fun to be had with it.
I never pass up the opportunity to take a few animal photos, but capturing the perfect moment is something which I have struggled with, it takes an awful lot of patience! Most of my pictures are out of focus, off center, or badly framed, but every now and then I managed to get a few to make it worth the effort.
This is a selection of various animal photos that I have managed to snap while in France and Spain, together with a willing cow from Britain's green, wet, and decidedly muddy south west.
Hope you like them, its been fun taking them!
Opportunistic Gulls over Barcelona Marina
The perfect subject material for my new canon Rebel. Buy bread, sit by the water, and gulls happen. It is a fact of nature. Fortunately, due to a favorable cross wind, they were hanging fairly still.
Kipunji Monkey Territorial Display
Obviously not a morning monkey. Its a shame the picture doesn't record the quite extraordinary cacophony that comes out of one of these monkeys. I also used to think that monkeys were sweet things. They are not.
Camoflauged Cricket
The noise from these crickets was deafening. Its amazing how much noise can be made by something so small. Interestingly, crickets make the noise by rubbing their wings together and not their legs; a common myth about these insects.
French Damsel Flies Making Love
Two damsel flies making love and forming a near perfect heart. She thinks its romantic, but I saw him pull the same trick with loads of flies. The dirty little scoundrel!
Honey Bee and Lavender, Aix en Provence, France
Lavender country in the south of France. Fields upon fields of lavender, and a very relaxed and chilled out place to be a bee.
Red Admiral Butterfly in Springtime
I have since given up on taking photographs of butterflies. Not the most willing of subjects it has to be said. It took me ages to get this one, and I'm really not sure it was worth it.
Up Close and Personal with an Iberian Goat
If you haven't got a great zoom, just get closer to your subject matter. Simple.
Five Cats and Seven Tails
I counted 12 cats of all colors just outside the castle at Montjuic in Barcelona. Armed with some attract-a-kitty dried food, I set up the shot. Surprisingly, only the black cats took up the offer. I love the shadows that their tails make!
Homage to a Devon Red Cow
Had great fun with this function on the camera, which takes 16 rapid succession shots and combines them into one photo, in this case, of a rather inquisitive and obliging Devon Red cow.

Great pictures. Looks like you captured the action of the cow chewing its cud. Awesome!
The Kipunji Monkey is just awesome! Not a word I use too often, but it hits the mark. Great image! Nice job.
